gift giving

Ask each of your guests to bring a small gift any one of you would love. Pile the goodies together to play “gift grab.” Each guest takes a number from a hat, and lowest number chooses a gift from the pile. The friend with the next highest number can take a gift from the pile — or steal the first person’s gift. But watch out — those with empty hands get to draw, and grab a gift, again.

For your get together serve a tray of party nibbles for starters, then invite friends to create their own favorite concoction from ingredients you’ve supplied — gourmet tacos or fajitas, a pasta bowl with exotic vegetables, or individual pizza with every topping under the sun.

Turn on that Christmas music, it’s time get ahead start on that gift wrapping. Wrapping your presents should not be neglected, after all it’s half of the excitement when it comes to the art of gift giving. With that said, to start, make sure all things to wrap your gifts with are around you. I use to get up in the middle of my wrapping right when I had the perfect crease in the paper, but no tape/glue to be found, so I would have to get up and look for it.

Try to do something different instead of using traditional wrapping paper, (the store bought Christmas prints), pick solid colors and decorate with metallic ribbon for a nice bright change.

Make your own decorative gift tags . Check out Paper-Crave for some festive freebies. For a quick little example, cut out your own Holly leaf and decorate with some glitter.  Don’t forget about big bows and ribbon. The little things really have a way of making the gift look special.  Do you have a lot of left over tissue paper, ribbon and recyclables? Wrap Art Gallery has some interesting ideas.

You can make whats underneath the Christmas tree just as pretty as the tree itself. It adds a little extra to the gifts when you spend a little more time in the care of wrapping them. Happy wrapping and all a good night!
