Emergency Fixes

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

You wake up on your wedding day and “Oh-no!” a big, glaring skin problem is staring you in the face! I have a list of some great products you should consider to put in your emergency kit.

FOR A BLEMISH Apply drugstore hydro-cortisone cream every hour to reduce swelling and redness. When its time for your makeup, dab concealer on with a brush ad set with loose powder. The best blemish “cover-upper” I have found out there is ERASE PASTE by Benefit Cosmetics.

FOR DARK CIRCLES Exercise! Get the blood flowing can help carry away pent-up fluids and blood that can make under-eye skin look dark. Use concealer, a shade lighter than your foundation to counteract the darkness. Set with a light-loose powder.

Have  a great skin regime and stick to it. If you want a great cleanser that will remove all the impurities and leave your skin clean, soft and protected, you gotta try L’OCCITANE Almond Apple Cleansing oil. This little gem also restores your skins natural PH. Plus it smells incredible and has such a wonderful milky consistency.

Guys and gals ask me how to get rid of breakouts along their jaw line and how to get rid of those annoying blackheads and what do I do to get “that glow?”  The trick is a facial cleansing brush! It cleanses your face properly without over exfoliating. When using a facial cleansing brush be sure to not press hard, treat your your face like the skin of a peach! Move in soft circular motions, get a good lather going. ;) Get your very own facial cleansing brush at your local JC Penny Sephora store or Body Shop, they usually cost anywhere from $7-$23. Make sure the bristles are soft! I recommend to exfoliate (1) maybe (2) times a month. This Almond Apple Sweet Peel from L’Occitane is wonderful, the little almond shell pieces exfoliates while the apple extract refines your pores and the apple-cider vinegar tightens your pores making them less visible. You don’t want to exfoliate too much, it will cause redness. Sloughing off old skin will cause new skin to regenerate and give you that beautiful glow, so one exfoliation a month  is sufficient, otherwise you are just damaging healthy new skin cells.

Lastly, drink lots of water. It will keep your body (that means skin too) hydrated and healthy looking. It will help extract all the unwanted toxins as well. Plus you will feel so much better and you might find you will have more energy.
