Kate’s Recycled Cake/Cupcake Stands

What You’ll Need:

- old plates (any size)
- old candlesticks or vases (look for anything that is wider at the bottom, with a sturdy base and a flat top)
- epoxy (from a hardware store)
- masking tape
- popsicle stick or q-tips without their fluff (something to apply the epoxy with)
- paper plate or scrap cardboard (something to mix the epoxy on that you can throw out)
- rags and cleaning solution

For those of you in the wedding world, you have probably already layed your eyes on these gorgeous shoes, but for those of you that are not in the wedding world or have not had the pleasure of discovering these beauties yet…. You can always DIY and have your very own inexpensive high fashion bridal shoes. Just add a beautiful flower pin to an affordable pair of shoes!

The fun and foxy Faux-bob has been around for quite awhile. I am in-love with this hairstyle, simply because you can make it glamorous or casual -depending on your mood and event. And with all the adorable hair and head accessories, the option to look as gorgeous as these celebrities is endless! I picked my favorite Faux-bob styles.

You might have noticed that some of your favorite actresses have long flowing locks one day and then a cute short bob the next. This is not a phenomena, its the “easy-to-do” Faux-bob. This short do is great for the everyday women when she feels like spicing up her look and a great addition your wedding gown or night out.

Easy steps to follow are;

• Pull hair back into a low ponytail with a hair tie that blends in with the color of our hair. (Goody makes some inexpensive one.)
• Tuck the ponytail under and secure it with bobby pins to hold your hair firmly in place.
• Next, pull a generous amount of hair from the tops and the sides to create the illusion that your hair is down.
• Lastly, curl the loose hairs with a curling iro so they shorten and look more voluminous.
• Mist your entire head with hairspray and then loosely pin back any extra long hairs to create an overall shorter appearance.
• Don’t be afraid to experiment with new looks! This is a great way to find out if you want that short bob or a great alternative to getting that short do.

Kate’s is my favorite, to get her look;

• Create a center part then tease hair at the roots to add texture. Roll the long layers up and pin at the nape of the neck with bobby pins.  No curling iron necessary, just use some spray gel and scrunch!

When asking someone, “Whats new?” or “Whats happening?” how often do you say or hear, “nothing really, same old stuff” ?? 

Today is Old Stuff Day, in recoginition of this all too common response. It is suggestive of a boring time period, or a boring life style… how sad. Old Stuff Day is not a day to do the same old stuff. Rather, it’s a time to recognize the boring nature of your daily routine, and make some exciting changes. Find new and different activities, projects, and hobbies – its good for body, mind & soul! Attend an event. Do something, anything, different. You will be glad that you did!

I recently got together with some friends of mine who you would call major beer snobs. As a hobby they all get together and brew their own beer. I was invited to hang out and par-ti-cipate.

We won’t get to enjoy it for another 2wks, but I know it’ll be worth the wait! My friend calls himself  “The, beer connoisseur.” He had all the appropriate  equipment to brew, which included;  plastic siphon hose, 5 gallon glass carboy, crown bottle cap, blow-off tube, plastic bottle capper, cylinder airlock, 32 oz. funnel, musting cap, 1lb. corn sugar, transfer bucket, 1 case 12 oz. bottles, hydrometer and thermometer and his holy bible brew log with all the special tips, verses and instructions. 

Its pretty easy to make a great tasting home brewed beer. I learned that I love the smell of hops! I wonder if it would make a good tea??? hmmm? Seriously, if you can boil water, you can brew your own beer.  I was told,  ”its all about timing.” You only let the brew boil for a little bit and not too hot or it will make the beer really bitter, yuck! 

We all know what a bitter beer face looks like! 

If you agree with me and think a home-brew party is a great idea, I also think it would be great to serve some of your home brew on your wedding day with your own labels! I’m sure everyone would love to try it out!

I wanted to see if there were places around town that allowed you to use their kitchen/setup to make beer and I’ve picked through the blah to bring you the best venue, that will bring a smile to your face and keep beer in your glass. I discovered a place in Portland that you can brew your own beer!

They have custom built towers and drip trays out of Copper, Brass, and Stainless Steel. You can make up to 12 gallons of beer with fresh wort made from an all grain mash. From this mash you can make any type of beer you want by adding your own specialty grains and hops. They have a fermentation room and a bottling room when its time to bottle.

What a perfect bachelor party idea! Something different and refreshing. (If you’re a girl who likes beer you are a rare find and we think you should celebrate your love of beer while celebrating your upcoming wedding!)
