Trend and Inspiration: Orange symbolizes love and vitality

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Orange trees are a symbol of love and marriage in many cultures.

Brides traditionally wear orange blossoms in their hair or carry them in their bouquet at their wedding also orange blossoms are often part of the decoration on a wedding cake.

Tid-bit of history; Queen Victoria was given a coronet of gold and enamel orange blossoms by her husband Albert. When their children were born, he had a jeweler add tiny green oranges to the coronet. You may also find oranges in Renaissance paintings of married couples, one of the most famous is Jan Van Eyck’s “Wedding Portrait of the Arnolfini”.

The color orange symbolizes vitality. People who like the color orange are said to be thoughtful and sincere.

Lady luck’s color is orange. ;)

Engagement photo shoot

Friday, May 21st, 2010

If you are engaged to be married, you most likely are planning to have an engagement photography session {I hope!}. Engagement photos might not seem like a priority to some, but I am telling you right now they are important! Being engaged is such an exciting time and definitely needs to be celebrated. The best way to do that is to get in touch with a great photographer who can capture the love between you and your soon to be husband or wife.

Looking back at my engagement photos is so much fun and I am so happy we did them! You can never have too many pictures of the two of you together. Not to mention how much fun the two of you will have walking around your favorite places looking all spiffy together. You will have these irreplaceable moments captured FOR-EV-ER!

I have been asked quite frequently, “what do you think I should wear for our engagement photos??”  I thought why not hear it from a pro, so I contacted my colleague, who is an exceptional photographer and super sweetheart to guest blog and give her professional advice to very important question. You definitely want Samantha’s advice!! Please enjoy below….

'What To Wear to an Engagement Shoot'
by Samantha Yeakle

This is your big chance to play stylist; embrace it and show your
personality! To ensure your photos endure a solid shelf-life, try to
stick with classic looks and avoid being too overtly trendy.

Don't be afraid to embrace color and texture. While I'm not sure who
decided "classic" was a black or white shirt paired with jeans on the
beach, I do know the look is looking pretty dated these days. While
it's important to match, this does NOT mean you have to wear the exact
same outfits. Compliment one another's outfits with the color palette
you chose by dressing with each other's choices in mind.

Also, don't be afraid to bring extra options. Sometimes a change of
clothes and going right around the corner can create a whole new photo
shoot! Always discuss this with your photographer first, as some may
charge a fee for outfit changes. This fee is likely far less than the
photo shoot, and typically a good deal. You essentially can get two
completely unique photo shoots for the cost of one + the fee.

You can't have too many photos or photo shoots; there endless fun and
creative ways to utilize your engagement photos. Save-The-Date
magnets, custom thank you cards, a personalized guest book for the
wedding day, and fresh photos for your Facebook profile or wedding
website are all great ways to put those new photos to use.

The following are a few shots from recent engagement shoots I've done
with couples who styled themselves beautifully and thoughtfully. They
used the clothes to express their personal style and create a vibe for
the photo session. For more examples, please head over to see more of
my photos at http://www.SoManyMoments.com

What’d I tell you?! She rocks! I agree, you definitely do not want to be matchy-matchy. Exemplify your individuality and compliment each other. Don’t do the white shirt and jeans thing. Have fun with props even and make a theme out of it. Most of all have fun and your photographs will be great!

Samantha thank you so much for taking the time to give all our newly engaged couples this valuable advice!

Until next time,
Stephanie

Round’em Up

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

I have to admit, I have been away from “Blog-Land” way too long and I missed it so! I have been busy with my new business venture {Wedding Planner} and I must say, ” I LOVE MY JOB!” its the best being your own boss!! I realize (now that I’ve got the hang of things, new job, new husband, and so on) I have to prioritize. Meaning: managing my time better. I was finding that I was getting too tired at the end of the day to do some of the things I love most… My Blog being one of them. I’m officially back in the saddle and must say it feels great! It’s hard to get TRULY organized. Its nice to have my little web log here in cyber space, its such a great outlet for me in so many ways!! :)

Any-hew, enough gushy stuff – Since I have been away, I still found time to READ through my faves ;) (tee-hee) and I have “Rounded Them’up” to show you and just so I can keep them for myself! Enjoy!! {More to come}.

It was really hard to pick my favorite. The Inspired Bride’s Blog {one of my favorite reads} has a wonderful “DIY week”. To learn how to make this desert chic center piece and MORE hop over to The Inspired Bride Blog.

If you love to entertain and need some help with the dessert menu, ALWAYS start with Bakerella! She is always whipping up something delicious and super fun. Be sure to look through her archives for some fantastic ideas.

“Love” spelled with cookies, now what could be sweeter??Photo credit: Stephanie Williams Photography never ceases to amaze. Such a brilliant photograph- I had to share it!

I adore this Polaroid ring By Jersey Maid $8.50 . Create your own glass charms a’la carte! Check out their shop on Etsy.

Style Me Pretty = experts in the wedding world and “ALWAYS-ALWAYS” has great ideas, inspiration and advice! This DIY candy popper they brought to all of us{via the fabulous Posh Paperie & exceptional photographer; Jackie Wonders } is the cutest ever!  For instructions on how to make your very own, head over to Style Me Pretty’s Blog!

This little treat is so adorable in EVERY way! Perfect for a bridal shower or baby shower. For the recipe and ‘how-to’ visit Eat & Drink Pretty. There are some great pie pops on there too!

I found this lovely little “Kilner Sun Jar” by Cox & Cox on The Knotty Bride’s blog – a fun place to spend some time if you need some great ideas for any kind of entertaining! I agree with Alison {Miss. Knotty Bride} – This wonderful little “Kilner Sun Jar” would be a perfect way to warm up/light any backyard celebration – and this little bad-boy stays lit for (5) hours!! :)

Stephanie

For the love of color

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

The latest and greatest emerging fad is colored wedding dresses! Colored bridal veils have been running right along the side with the colored wedding dress trend. I have never been one to be afraid of color and I simply adore this idea!

From the top left is a stunning bride in her equally stunning purple wedding gown! View more of Aimee’s dress and her gorgeous real wedding photos at Simply Bloom Wedding Photography Blog.

The gown on the top right is a gorgeous Black dress that makes use of a variety of wonderful fabrics.  Doesn’t she look chic?! According to the experts, women feel amazing in a black dress and I am one for a wedding dress that you feel comfortable in. What do you think?

The bottom top left is the infamous Gwen Stefani, her dress features both classic white and just a hint of pink, her favorite color, made by Christian Dior.

On the bottom left is a magical photograph by Gordon McGowan a super talented photographer from the UK. I first saw this dress via Intimate Weddings Blog, the brides Blue wedding dress is stunning! This photograph took my breath away!

The Multi fairytaile colored wedding dress was first spotted by me on Offbeat Bride’s Blog. The dress was originally a prom dress bought by the bride at a dress shop in downtown L.A. To read her story visit HERE.

The bottom picture is Emerson, by EmersonMade. I am a fan! She is wonderful and makes gorgeous fabric flowers, clothing and much more. I love the photograph for two reasons. #1 What girl wouldn’t want to lay in a gorgeous dress along side a bed a beautiful flowers, real or fake? #2 Yes, the dress is gorgeous! Emerson looks like a beautiful bride and I don’t even know if it is a wedding gown or not, but I love it and think it would make a gorgeous gown and the colors she has combined together would make the perfect color palette for any wedding! Seriously, be sure to shop her site, TONS of goodies over there! ;)

This real wedding is darling! The images by Di Bezi Photography are wonderful and Katie, (the bride) is beautiful in her frothy yellow wedding gown made by Vera Wang! Image found on Brooklyn Bride’s Blog! Be sure to read more about Katie and Michael AND to see more of this gorgeous gown on Brooklyn Bride’s blog.

Morocco and Rhajastan

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Lavish, decadent and beautifully unrestrained is what I think of when I look at Amanda Wakeley’s bridal gowns. The photography is stunning. I picked my favorites from Amanda’s Morocco line :

Strapless dress with folded ribbon detailing on the bust cups and layered silk georgette skirt. {My fav!}

V-necked georgette dress, embellished with gunmetal chains {gun metal chains!-SEXY!}

Strapless silk satin, corseted dress with pleated waist detail and full skirt {The gown looks so creamy dreamy!}

From her Rahjastan line I picked this one:

Silk georgette halterneck dress with Cleopatra beading detail {absolutely a dream gown-seriously gorgeous!}

I am positive any woman would feel like a goddess in any one of Amanda Wakeley’s gowns. They are so beautiful there needs to be another word to call them besides gowns or dresses. Seriously, can you think of another word? Amanda also has a pretty swanky jewelry line, some killer shoes and much more! You must check out her website! www.AmandaWakeley.com

Thank you for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend and happy-happy Friday! TGIF!

” a tout a l ‘ heure “
