Quite fitting: An adorable bicycle themed wedding

Monday, July 5th, 2010

Portland is known for our avid bicyclists, so its only fitting that we would see a bicycle themed wedding. I picked some great photography and some great finds from Etsy in case you are planning your own bicycle themed wedding! ;)

I love this super-cute cake topper so much, every-time I look at it, it makes me laugh!

What is not to love about the above photograph?!  Just perfect! { loving her cowgirl boots!}

To my surprise, there are quite a lot of fabulous tandem bicycle wedding invitations/ save the date designs to choose from!

I love the ties!

These tanks would be a great little gift to give to your bridesmaids and or your guests!

I woke up this morning and wanted to bake! I LOVE cooking so much! I found this fabulous recipe; Salted caramel-chocolate cupcake – all cravings covered with this little devil! YUM! These would make a great treat for a bridal shower!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 (8-oz.)
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (8-oz.) container sour cream
  • 8 ounces chopped semisweet chocolate
  • 1/4 cup whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons whipping cream
  • salted caramel butter-cream

Garnishes: sea salt flakes and caramels, cut into quarters

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat butter and cream cheese at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Beat in sugars until creamy. Beat in sugars until light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating until blended after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
  2. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients. Gradually add to butter mixture alternately with sour cream, beating until blended. Spoon batter by rounded tablespoonfuls into lightly greased miniature muffin pans.
  3. Bake at 350 for 13 to 15 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool in pans on wire racks  5 minutes. Remove from pans to wire racks, and cool completely ( about 30 minutes).
  4. Microwave semisweet chocolate and 1/4 cup whipping cream in a microwave-safe bowl at HIGH 1 minute, stirring at 30-second intervals. Whisk in 2Tbsp. whipping cream until smooth. Dip tops of cupcakes in chocolate mixture, and let stand until chocolate is set (about 30 minutes). Pipe or spread salted caramel butter-cream onto cupcakes. Garnish, if desired.

Note: To prepare regular-size cupcakes, spoon batter into 2 lightly greased 12-cup muffin pans, filling two-thirds full. Bake at 350 for 22 to 24 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool and decorate as desired. Makes 2 dozen.

Morocco and Rhajastan

Lavish, decadent and beautifully unrestrained is what I think of when I look at Amanda Wakeley’s bridal gowns. The photography is stunning. I picked my favorites from Amanda’s Morocco line :

Strapless dress with folded ribbon detailing on the bust cups and layered silk georgette skirt. {My fav!}

V-necked georgette dress, embellished with gunmetal chains {gun metal chains!-SEXY!}

Strapless silk satin, corseted dress with pleated waist detail and full skirt {The gown looks so creamy dreamy!}

From her Rahjastan line I picked this one:

Silk georgette halterneck dress with Cleopatra beading detail {absolutely a dream gown-seriously gorgeous!}

I am positive any woman would feel like a goddess in any one of Amanda Wakeley’s gowns. They are so beautiful there needs to be another word to call them besides gowns or dresses. Seriously, can you think of another word? Amanda also has a pretty swanky jewelry line, some killer shoes and much more! You must check out her website! www.AmandaWakeley.com

Thank you for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend and happy-happy Friday! TGIF!

Emergency Fixes

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

You wake up on your wedding day and “Oh-no!” a big, glaring skin problem is staring you in the face! I have a list of some great products you should consider to put in your emergency kit.

FOR A BLEMISH Apply drugstore hydro-cortisone cream every hour to reduce swelling and redness. When its time for your makeup, dab concealer on with a brush ad set with loose powder. The best blemish “cover-upper” I have found out there is ERASE PASTE by Benefit Cosmetics.

FOR DARK CIRCLES Exercise! Get the blood flowing can help carry away pent-up fluids and blood that can make under-eye skin look dark. Use concealer, a shade lighter than your foundation to counteract the darkness. Set with a light-loose powder.

Have  a great skin regime and stick to it. If you want a great cleanser that will remove all the impurities and leave your skin clean, soft and protected, you gotta try L’OCCITANE Almond Apple Cleansing oil. This little gem also restores your skins natural PH. Plus it smells incredible and has such a wonderful milky consistency.

Guys and gals ask me how to get rid of breakouts along their jaw line and how to get rid of those annoying blackheads and what do I do to get “that glow?”  The trick is a facial cleansing brush! It cleanses your face properly without over exfoliating. When using a facial cleansing brush be sure to not press hard, treat your your face like the skin of a peach! Move in soft circular motions, get a good lather going. ;) Get your very own facial cleansing brush at your local JC Penny Sephora store or Body Shop, they usually cost anywhere from $7-$23. Make sure the bristles are soft! I recommend to exfoliate (1) maybe (2) times a month. This Almond Apple Sweet Peel from L’Occitane is wonderful, the little almond shell pieces exfoliates while the apple extract refines your pores and the apple-cider vinegar tightens your pores making them less visible. You don’t want to exfoliate too much, it will cause redness. Sloughing off old skin will cause new skin to regenerate and give you that beautiful glow, so one exfoliation a month  is sufficient, otherwise you are just damaging healthy new skin cells.

Lastly, drink lots of water. It will keep your body (that means skin too) hydrated and healthy looking. It will help extract all the unwanted toxins as well. Plus you will feel so much better and you might find you will have more energy.
