Valentines Soir’ee

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Who doesn’t like baking? Ok, well since we have an awesome holiday coming up, lets celebrate by throwing a Valentine’s Soiree. By making a signature cocktail and some pretty valentine cookies made with love. You don’t have to be in a relationship to enjoy Valentines. Have a singles mixer or a girls night. Swap Valentines and show each other how much you appreciate your friendship! Make it a Valentine cookie making, cocktail drinking party! Don’t get all ” I hate Valentines Day!” Celebrate!

While shopping around I found this great site Natural Candy Store.com.  they pride themselves with selling healthy decorations made with real vegetable juices instead of petroleum and coal-tar and nasty chemicals. AND after you buy their products and bake, they want you to send in a picture, to post on their site, to show off your skills. How fun! Who doesn’t like to show-off their skills???

The perfect cocktail to serve is the beautiful Rose Parade Nuvo Sparkling Cocktail! It’s so pretty and bubbly and it has a rose petal in it! How much more fun& romantic can you get?! It is super easy to make! Here we go….

“DIRECSOINES”

  • 4 oz. Nuvo Sparkling Liqueur
  • 2 oz. cold sparkling water
  • Pink organic rose petals

Nuvo is the first sparkling liqueur and is made with vodka, a splash of french sparkling wine, and natural fruit nectar to achieve a harmonious balance. The wine is made up of Chardonnay with a touch of Pinot Noir. It is infused with raspberry, peach, and strawberry fruits, all of which are lively on the palate and refreshing! -Jeanne Benedict

Your heart healthy tip for the day is to enjoy Valentines Day whether you are single or in a relationship! Celebrate life and good health!

xoxo,

 Stephanie

Thank you for reading my blog, if you have any questions or want help throwing a party, I’d love to hear from you!

GO RED FOR WOMEN

Monday, February 8th, 2010

I’m a little late on blogging about the Go Red Trunk show/fashion show I attended On January 28th. Ok. Maybe more than a little late. I have some great brides this year, they keep me busy! I am having such a blast with each and every one of them!

I have decided that the theme for the entire week will be heart related since Valentines Day is almost here, so stay tuned for some heart healthy treats as we head towards February 14th.

The ‘GO RED Trunk Show’ was held at the ever so poshy Indigo @ 12|west in one of their luxury pent houses! There was wine, some amazing h’or devours, music, jewelry, gorgeous models and couture fashion! SO much fun & WHAT a view from the 23rd floor!

This was a fabulous way to raise awareness for heart disease in women and men. For more information on  heart health awareness go to www.hearthub.org

Don’t forget that February 20th is the Glamorous Heart Ball!

American Heart Association 2010 Heart Ball Invitation

Any one of these dresses could be worn for the ball!

I’m telling you, this was such fun! It was a ‘live’ runway show with looks from Opening Ceremony for Pendleton, Sarabeth, Cindy Taylor/ Bon’Lou Couture, Risley Design, BettyJean Couture, O’Pearl Jewelry, and Barbara Johnson! I SO WISH, I would have won the drawing for the (2) tickets to the Heart Ball at the Governor Hotel! Oh-well, we can all still go. ;)

Be sure to join the HEART WALK  2010! Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 22nd. Follow the movement on Twitter: twitter.com/OregonHeart  and become a fan on Facebook. I am pretty excited about all of this because I have recently made a promise to myself to take better care of myself by eating healthier and exercising regularly and I feel so great! Whether you’re at work or at home, walking is the first step to a healthier lifestyle. You have to learn to LOVE yourself before you can love somebody else. Happy Monday!!

Stephanie

Treats for your sweet

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

The  decadent looking picture above was made by Brownies from Heaven, they are delectable truffle brownies and they are just as yummy as they look! Bonnie Brasure  is the Chef/owner of this lovely shop, check out their website www.browniesfromheaven.com .  Chocolate Fest had so many wonderful treats, and not all of the goodies were Chocolate.

The picture above is this fabulously decadent face mask by “Muddy H2O” www.muddyh2oetc.com .  Use their masks to support your skins natural youthfulness There are (5) unique masks – one for every skin type.  The one I chose to purchase was the chocolate mask of course.  The main ingredient is organic cocoa powder. Each mask comes with a packet of the cocoa powder, honey and a cute little brush with instructions on how to apply.  Treat yourself and your girls to a night of chocolate and pampering before your big day.  All Muddy H2O masks are easy to cutomize using fresh ingredients such as honey, milk or essential oils.

There were so many beautiful truffle displays, almost too pretty to eat, “but”, I did it with ease. ;)   One of the vendors that stuck out from the rest was  Cocoa Velvet www.cocoavelvetchocolates.com. They are located several places here in Portland. To order go to there website or call them (971)-235-2045.  A way to celebrate or just have a unique party in your home is to have Cocoa Velvet throw a tasting class. They will make great wedding favors for you by putting together two piece chocolate truffle gifts your guests. They can box or bag them in your wedding colors.

Here in the Northwest 99.9% of us LOVE coffee, we are, after-all home to Stumptown Coffee, and if you happen to be one that doesn’t much care for coffee, go to Stumptown, your life will be changed! – Speaking of change, I sampled something incredible at Chocolate Fest. It wasn’t coffee, or hot chocolate its called CHOFFY. It is brewed chocolate! And for most, that is saying enough. Its not what you think, its not sweet, nor acidic, like coffee is. There is no caffeine and yet it provides a natural energy without giving you the jitters, like coffee sometimes can. I think it would be a perfect smooth alternative to serve. It is 100% organic cacao beans, roasted and ground for a rich, full-flavored drink. CHOFFY is naturally loaded with antioxidants and a taste that will make you wonder how you ever did without it!  CHOFFY won best organic product at the Portland Chocolate fest, well deserved, such a spectacular beverage! To order CHOFFY contact your local independent distributor: www.drinkchoffy.com

One of the most artistic tables there was set up by Sterling Truffle Bar. Their motto is “Expect Something Extraordinary” I definitely agree! From the moment you first taste the Sterling Truffle Bar, you do experience something extraordinary. Its triangular shape. The vibrant colors. Its contemporary designs. And most importantly, anticipating how the spectacular  flavors will come together. Example’ White Chocolate Raspberry peppermint or how about Banana Honey Caramel (my favorite, dangerously delicious!) or Pineapple Ginger Macadamia Nut??? Is your mouth watering yet? That is just a few of their interesting combination. Theses bars were not only super yummy, they are lovely little pieces of art! www.sterlingconfections.com

Looking for some yummy treats for your honey for Valentines?? Check out Sipping dreams and order online before February 10th and receive 10% off your purchase when you purchase $20 or more. Enter in code; sipdrms. 2% of proceeds supports FOOD for Lane County. www.sippingdreams.com

I think one of the neatest ideas is hiring Flavour Pals Personal Chef Services to come and cook for you and your family, especially for the busy families who want to take a break, but don’t feel like going out and braving a crowd of people.  Romance someone with dinner for VALENTINES DAY. Contact them chef@flavorpals.com or check out their website at www. Flavourpals.com

Above is a picture of  all the treats I purchased. The colorful soaps are from Soap Lady Oregon www.soap-lady.com I bought a natural shampoo sample pack, consisting of six (6) bars; coconut shampoo, Green Apple Shampoo, Charcoal Shampoo, Rose Shampoo, Tea-tree Shampoo and Sweet Orange Shampoo, all of them smell so wonderful and what a perfect gift to give to your bridesmaids or give to someone for a treat on their birthday.

Second purchase more soaps, some tea and peppermint oil from  Seely Family Farm, they are from Clatskanie, Oregon they specialize in producing these lovely peppermint & spearmint teas, oils and organic soaps. Mike had such a great deal going – buy (3) for $11 ! I picked (2) peppermint Shea Butter soap bars and (1) spearmint Olive Oil Soap. The soaps are amazing, so creamy and aromatic. Knowing that they are organic, NATURAL soaps makes it all the better! Seely Family Farm doesn’t  have a website. :( But I found this great article about the family and how hard they all work to bring their wonderful product to the rest of us! Read it HERE. If you have questions for them, like where to purchase their products send them an email; mintfarm@clatskanie.com

The above photo is the yummiest most interesting truffle we sampled! Ladybug Chocolates created this wonderful confection! If you are in the neighborhood, stop by for a treat, they are located on NW 1st ave in Canby, Oregon. Check out their adorable website www.ladybugchocolates.com! Ladybug Chocolates took Best Confection, Most Innovative Ingredient, and Overall Best in Show at Chocolate Fest 2010!! They deserve it! Congratulations!!

I hope you enjoyed the eye- CANDY!  xoxo

Happy New Year

Time to set out the grilled prawns, mini ceviche appetizers and champagne cocktails! Yum! Get your 2010 party on!

If you are hosting a party, make sure there are designated drivers, if not be sure to call a taxi for your guests. Taxis usually give a free ride to the address on your license on New Years Eve. If you’re out on the town, take a cab its cheaper than a D.U.I or/and a car accident.  Now that I am done with my mother hen-ing…  ;)

May this New Year bring with it all the motivation & inspiration you’ll need to accomplish each and every one of your goals. May this new year also bring good health and happiness to you and your loved ones! I look forward to whats to come this New Year!  Have a wonderful & safe New Years Eve celebration!

p.s. Don’t forget to look up at the “blue moon”

“Once in a Blue Moon”

bluemoon

It’s been said that New Year’s Eve brings magic once in a blue moon! We are in luck! We will have a Full “Blue Moon” New Year’s Eve! This won’t happen again until 2028.  What a perfect exuse to celebrate a theme event! I of course made an inspiration board for a Blue Moon theme party . We will see the second full moon this month on New Year’s Eve and it will be the 13th full moon of the year. In addition, there will be a partial lunar eclipse. No, the moon doesn’t actually turn blue. It’s just the term used to describe this lunar event. In between celebrations and New Year’s  Eve kisses, make sure to gaze up at the sky, our moon will be at her most beautiful.{Read Homer Tribue}

Alfred Angelo Coupon!

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Alfred Angelo is offering another coupon for 50% off.  Save some money!  Tip for shopping;  The fabric of your gown needs to be one of the factors in making it “the one”. Lightweight fabrics like chiffon are the best choice for warm-weather weddings. If your nuptials will be in wintery-weather consider heavier fabrics. Worried about a little weight gain? Pick a gown with a lace-up back. This is a gorgeous way to have a more forgiving and figure flattering dress.
