I can’t believe how much is out there for winter weddings, I am so inspired!  How fun would it be to get professional pictures of a snowball fight at the reception… Winter weddings can be a wonderland of ice,  snow, clear sculptures and rich luxurious colors and fabrics.

Imagine snow covered mountain peaks rising majestically from fir tree covered foothills. Close your eyes and take a deep breathe in the crisp, pine scented air. That is what a winter wedding is all about! Think of a ski lodge in the distance with its welcoming real wood-burning fire, the winter sun sparkling off the crisp white snow and the sky as blue as can be.  Should a snow storm occur at a most in-opportune moment then a fire side wedding ceremony must be one of the most romantic.

If the evening weather suits why not set out a bonfire and take your wedding outside, at least for part of the time. (Make sure to serve a warm drink, check out my blog about Signature drinks). There can develop a great sense of camaraderie around a campfire, unlike any camping trip you have ever been on! A group song may even be called for!

When planning the wedding, it is important to take care of the skin through the winter wedding process – While planning the wedding and choosing the dress, the bride may want to spend some time in the sun if possible, or with the help of a sunless tan to ensure that she is not as white as the dress she is wearing. Through the winter months it is easy to become pale and pasty and therefore it is important to ensure that the skin is ready to perform through the entire wedding and can therefore make an impact on every guest that has arrived. Be sure to moisturize extremely well upwards of two weeks before the wedding to ensure that the skin is just right for the special day.

There are many choices to be made on the run up to your wedding day and the choice of time of year is just one of them. Each season has its own attractions to offer and winter is no different. If you are having an outdoor wedding in the winter – Use outside patio heaters, fireplace, wood stoves, over hang heaters, hobo stoves, fire pits, heated tents. Party favors= hats, gloves and scarfs in assorted colors or the color scheme of the party to stay with the theme.
